It’s been a busy week for the Meyers. Last Thursday Michael and I left the boys with the grandparents and took off to Michigan for my sister’s wedding. It was our FIRST trip without the children. We were pretty tired when we boarded our flight home yesterday, but it was so worth it. We had a great time with the family and had a blast dancing to a fabulous swing band at the reception! I blogged about our experience over at DC Metro Moms Blog.
Now that I’m back I have some catching up to do, so here’s a few housekeeping announcements:
Grow Your Own #2 is right around the corner, so if you want to participate, make sure you’ve posted by September 27. Email me the required information, and I’ll post the round-up on October 1. I’ve already got some wonderful entries, and I can’t wait to see what else will come in!- The Daring Bakers will reveal the September challenge item on September 30, so please come back on Sunday to see how I fared this time around!
- They Go Really Well Together is a new event for me, and I’m happy to join in! My friend Inge of Vanielje Kitchen is the host this month, and she has chosen apple and lavender for the magical combination. If my shipment of culinary lavender arrives on time (cross your fingers), I’ll be posting my concoction in a few days. Make sure you check out Inge’s blog for the round-up!
That’s it for the announcements. I do have a fun project I’m going to do with the boys tomorrow, so check back in a few days to see what we made together.

sounds like you had a great time andrea. meanwhile on my side of the pond, the table is laid and the empty plate is waiting…
Hey… welcome back! I’ve been so busy, sorry Andrea, I think this month I will have to skip the Grow your own event, unless I could use something posted before and add your logo, I don’t know if it would be ok with you, please let me know. We have never been the two of us together away from the kids, only my husband has trips abroad and I had a women’s retreat last year. Anyways, we hire babysitters not as often as we would like, but it is good to have dinner sometimes alone and enjoy each other’s company or we do this more often… we put them to bed, cook dinner and set the table nicely, drink a good wine and stay up late, that’s romantic too. No rush to get back home and still drive the sitter back.
