Wow that sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon!

  2. Cris says:

Wow Andrea, how nice that you got to know a real chef! And got free classes!

  3. Christine says:

Where can I get the best pumpkin pie recipe for halloween???

  4. Chip Griffin says:

Great write-up and thanks for the mention of Cork & Knife. Todd is a good friend and a great chef. I have enjoyed his cooking lessons myself in the past and they are always informative and entertaining.

One minor correction: Cork & Knife is a multimedia magazine, not a blog. But I will definitely keep an eye on this blog now that I have found it!

Jenny & Cris: Yes, I’m still pinching myself! I was such a geek, I called my mother that night and babbled the whole story to her over the phone (with laryngitis)!

Chip: Thanks for stopping by! Chef did a great job on Saturday and I was just plain lucky! And I’ve corrected the mention of Cork & Knife above.

Christine: I like the new pumpkin pie recipe I tried last Thanksgiving, and my husband did something fun and creative with the extra custard. However, I think that saying a particular recipe is the “best” is subjective because tastes differ. If you don’t find what you are looking for here, I would suggest doing a search for pumpkin pie on Foodieview.com, which will show you recipes from Epicurious, Allrecipes, Recipezaar, Food Network, as well as multiple food bloggers.

What a day! I especially enjoyed your descriptions of Your Boys at the restaurant! And the risotto? Yummmmm …

What a great way to spend the day! That’s what you get for being organised!

Andrea – this sounds like it was so much fun! What great opportunity to have a hands on experience with a leading chef!

  9. Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must have been dizzy with excitement and pinching yourself that you were the only one there. How fortunate for them that you, a professional yourself, were there to really appreciate the evening! Oh, and btw, this was my favorite quote from your post “my oldest, who is almost 5, loudly and proudly announcing that he pooped on the potty as he comes back to the table” — Amy

What an unexpected pleasure and those are always the best! I think I would have been tongue-tied too!
    Great post!
