  1. Andrea, Your breads are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for posting the pictures with your wonderful review of the book and your experience with the bread. Happy baking and enjoy all those beautiful loaves! Zoë

  2. I agree with Zoë, what gorgeous loaves! The crust on the couronne looks incredibly crunchy.

    Cheers,

I just bought this book and I am SO excited to try it out!!! Your breads look gorgeous! Thanks for your tips and for posting the video…I think I’m too excited to sleep now! :)

This is such an interesting post – I’ve thought about buying the book, but I have a lot of bread books which haven’t worked for me, and didn’t want yet another. So now I’m going to give the method a go first

    Thanks :)
    Joanna

  6. I’m going to have to try this one otherwise I’ll never know. The no knead bread I did two years ago was great fun. First time I ever had bread sing to me.
    Gorgeous loaf Andrea!

  7. Andrea says:

Zoe, thank you! I’m loving your book.
    Susan, Rosa, thanks!
Joey, I hope you have fun with the book! We sure have.
Joanna, MyKitchenInHalfCups, you’ve got to give this a try. Some people would say this isn’t “the real thing,” but it tastes good to us and doesn’t require so much planning.

Your bread looks great. I make all of my own bread as well. I have been considering picking this book up & was wondering how it would be for someone already used to bread baking. Thank you for the review.

  9. Cris says:

Andrea… looking at your picture I imagine myself in a fancy bakery… these are soo gorgeous!!!

  10. Alex says:

I just could not wait to try this, it is truly amazing. I don’t think I will ever make bread in the traditional way ever again.

  11. Andrea says:

Natashya, thanks! I have enjoyed our experiments with this book!
    Cris, thank you!
Alex, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

  12. Your breads just keep getting more beautiful! : )

  13. Andrea, your couronne looks absolutely gorgeous, and I’m desperate to just break off a piece and slather it with fresh salted butter. I bake a lot of bread and it is time consuming but it is my meditation too. I’ve seen references to this book all over the place, and like Joanna have hesitated to add another unused recipe book to my gargantuan collection. Maybe it’s worth another look though.

  14. Caroline says:

Andrea… I have just made the bread dough and it is underway to its 2 hr fermentation (hopefully). I did a web recipe search for Batards and came across your blog. I don’t know which dark recess have I been hiding but this is the first time I’m hearing of a 5 minute bread.

If this works and I don’t have to travel to town each time I want a decent loaf of Batard, which costs about USD4.00 each by the way… I’m gonna do the Bread Dance of Joy in your honour!! =P

Wish me luck and once again, thank you for sharing this wonderful “news” !!

p.s. I will be putting in my order with the local cuisine bookshop for THE book, come Monday!

I have just tasted the bread… I’m in lurrrrve… with both the bread and you!!! Life is gonna be so exciting now that I don’t have to schedule certain days around town, where I can pick up a loaf of my favourite batard.

I was so doubtful (yes! I’m not worthy!) that something so simple would be comparable to my fav batard. And yet! It was really crispy on the outside, chewy and not too dry on the inside.

    Thank you!!

Caroline, I’m so glad you enjoyed the bread. Have fun making more of it!
