This deal popped into my radar just this morning, a good 6-quart enamel on cast-iron dutch oven from Lodge Manufacturing. Le Creuset has had a tight hold on the enameled cast-iron cookware market, but there are increasingly good quality, less expensive options from other manufacturers, and this is one of them. In January of this year, Cook’s Illustrated published another update to their original evaluation of Dutch ovens from 2005. They tested both the Tramontina 6.5 quart and Lodge Color 6 quart. They rated both of them well, with the Tramontina slightly edging out the Lodge for size and lower price.
Today I noticed Amazon has the Lodge version in the very nice Island Spice color on sale for 55% off, so you can get it for a great price at $34.99 with Free Super Saver Shipping. This one will not last long!

Wow! What a great price. I think I might “need” to get one right now! Thanks for the tip!
I ordered one the day I posted this and received it on Friday. The color is great and the size is perfect for most things I cook.
My family swears by Lodge cast iron. I picked this exact same dutch oven up to make no-knead bread. It works like a charm.
